Christy in the newspaper --1997
In 1997, Christy's third race got her into the newspaper. We went to the 4th Annual Southwest Junior Drag Racing Championships, in Las Vegas, Nevada. On the first day of racing, she lost in the third round. The second day of racing, she took third place, eliminating herself with a .499 in the Semi's. She was in the 8, 9 and 10 year old bracket, which had over 50 kids competing in it. The other two kids who made it to the finals were Paige Mobley, and Andrew Stephany. We were all from Northern Utah, and we took the top three places at the race in our bracket in vegas, so they wanted to write about how well we all did. Paige's dad knew a writer who worked on a local (and very popular) newspaper. He gave his friend a call and he wrote up the article. Christy is the first from left (this is what the little red car looked like before we got it painted) followed by Andrew Stephany (Winner) and Paige Mobley (R.U.) |
